TOOL: Bendable trim
Trims like chair rails and crown
molding have been an affordable do-it-yourself upgrade for
years for flat, linear surfaces, but there were few easy or
affordable options for arched doorways and windows, curved
stairwells and rounded ceilings.
Zâgo has introduced a new line
of bendable trimwork that can navigate tight arcs and
curves. The polyester resin-based products in the Trim EZ
Pro Series are more flexible than the company’s original
product and designed to give the look of carved wood without
the high cost. (Playhouse in the Park recently ordered
several trims for a spiral staircase and columns for the set
of “Sleuth,” running Sept. 5-Oct. 3.) The custom-made trim
and molding is installed with constructive adhesive and
finishing nails and can be painted, stained and applied
outdoors, according to the company.
Cost is $1.99-$12.99 per linear
foot through Lowe’s, ProBuild and 84 Lumber locations, at
www.flexibletrims.com or by calling 973-643-6700.
